Branded TV: Communicate With Your Customers While They Watch TV

Waiting Room TV - Combine HDTV and Digital Signage On One Screen

Just recently we started offering our Branded TV digital signage solution to dental practices.  Branded TV is our own proprietary digital signage solution that allows us to combine live TV and digital signage on the same screen.  We developed Branded TV because so many businesses are already using tvs in their businesses and waiting rooms.  This applies to car dealerships, health clubs, sports bars, auto repair shops, medical practices, and dentist offices.

Recently we installed Dental TV in Dr. Larry Honigman's office in Hartsdale, NY.  Having unsuccessfully tried to use dental educational programming on the tv in his waiting room, he was looking for another way to communicate with his patients while they were in his waiting room.

What Dr. Honigman liked about Branded TV was it didn't replace the TV content that his patients enjoy watching but rather enhances the experience by allowing patients to learn more about his practice, while watching tv.  Kelly Condo, Dr. Honigman’s office manager also mentioned that patients weren't looking at the brochures displayed throughout the waiting room.  Branded TV allows you to get this information in front of your patients, while eliminating all of the clutter.

"Signpost has quickly become an invaluable addition to our office’s internal marketing. Finally questions are being asked about new procedures and services. This is an ease to implement, it is a powerful and efficient means of communicating with your patient."

Larry S. Honigman, D.D.S.

We developed a strategy for the content as well as designed a look and feel that complemented their branding. We targeted eight different areas:

  • Mini Dental Implants
  • Invisalign
  • Zoom Teeth Whitening
  • Velscope Oral Cancer Screening
  • Botox Injections
  • Restalyne Injections
  • CareCredit Financing
  • Referral Program
  • Customer Testimonials
  • Fun Dental Facts

Dental TV is a plug-n-play digital signage solution for waiting rooms.   It comes complete with:

  • Hardware
  • Software
  • Content Creation
  • Content Management
  • Support

We offer a subscription-based service in which Signpost Digital creates and manages the content displayed on the screen remotely through the cloud.  If you would like to learn more about Branded TV and how it can help your practice, give Signpost Digital a call at (914) 368-9600.Waiting Room TV - Combine HDTV and Digital Signage On One Screen

Movie Theater Digital Billboard

Movie Theater Digital Billboard

Digital signage continues to become every more present in our daily lives.  These are the screens we see at the airport showing flight information, the screen in the back of NYC taxi cabs and the screens we look at while riding in an elevator.

The applications of digital signage are far reaching so I have decided to start a blog that documents the digital signage I come across in my daily travels. Below are some photographs I took on a recent trip to the movies with my wife to see Les Miserables.  By the way, if you loved the Broadway show, you will love the film.

Anyway, back to the digital signage.  This is a great use of digital signage to provide customers with relevant information, in this case, movie show times and duration, that is easily updatable.  I didn’t have a chance to find out what they were using but if you look closely, you can see what appears to be the menu and controls of a windows-based application.  My best guess is they are using a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation on a desktop Windows PC that is connected to the screen via a VGA connection.

For businesses looking in incorporate digital signage without a significant financial investment, this is a great way to go about it.  In most cases, you already have the computer and the software.  So for the cost of a 20′ VGA cable, a display and  mount  you have a digital menu board.  Most likely this solution cost under $1,000.

If you would like to learn more about how you can add digital signage to your business, please give us a call at (914) 368-9600.  We offer a variety of solutions specifically designed for small businesses that are easy to use and affordable.  Be sure to sign up for our newsletter on our website today and receive a FREE white paper on how you can incorporate digital signage into your business with little or no money like Carmel Cinema’s did.

Grand Central Market In Holiday Spirit with In-Store Digital Signage

Businesses are looking for an edge.  A way to separate themselves from their competition.  A way that is more effective and engaging at informing their customers of their products and services.  A way to deliver better customer service.

Grand Central Market, a Westchester County delicatessen and full-service caterer found that edge with a in-store digital display purchased from Signpost Digital. Owners, Ralph Hurd and Lou Ciucci see the power of digital signage and contacted David Vogel, owner of Signpost Digital, to provide them with a turnkey solution that was affordable and easy to use.

They are really excited about the day parting feature of digital signage where different information can be displayed at different parts of the day.  Now they can promote their breakfast items at breakfast, lunch items during lunch-time and their prepared meals in the afternoon.  Grand Central Market is so much more than a delicatessen and they are looking forward to further promoting their catering services.

Being that this is the holiday season, Grand Central is focusing on using the screen to promote their custom made gift baskets and their upcoming special event, Holiday Madness, a two day event where they will be showcasing a variety of products, special holiday offers and of course the opportunity to see Santa.  The event is December 15th and 16th from 11am to 3pm so if you are in the area, be sure to visit.

If you're looking for a similar way to display current promotions throughout the day – digital signage is likely to be just what you need.  Sign up for our free newsletter that is filled with information on digital signage and how it can grow your business.  You will also receive our white paper on how you get started with digital signage for free using hardware and software you probably already own.

How to add a wood frame around your HDTV

Many HDTV homeowners as well as business owners are interested in softening the look of their HDTV and now there is a very easy way to do it.  FrameTheTV.com has developed a solution that allows you to chose from over 30 different types of frame designs and 5 different matte colors.  The great thing about this product is that the frame does not interfere with the remote sensor allowing for full use of the remote control.  The frame works with all types of mounts except the table mount that typically comes with the HDTV.

If you want to learn more go to www.framethetv.com or call them at 214.402.8704.

What is digital signage and can my company afford it?

What is digital signage and can my company afford it?

In a world where information is ubiquitous and consumers are hesitant to invest in a product without first doing some research, it’s no wonder that businesses are looking for new ways to reach customers.

In fact, more and more businesses are replacing traditional signage such as posters, flyers and billboards and are increasingly turning to digital signage, which is any digital screen that delivers information, entertainment or advertising to consumers at the right time and at the right place. As a result, businesses are seeing increased revenue, foot traffic and customer retention.

For years, digital signage was something that only large corporations utilized in their retail stores because they had the financial and technical resources to implement it. With the proliferation of high definition content and the demand for HD displays, the cost has dropped considerably in price, making this a viable option for the small business. The technology has also gotten simpler to use with signage solutions that in most instances are plug-and-play.

Many small businesses are now discovering ways of using these inexpensive displays to create digital signage solutions using existing hardware and software. There is no reason why you can’t use a digital photo frame, a DVD player or a PC playing a PowerPoint presentation to promote your products and services. Even though these are great starting points, I don’t necessarily recommend consumer products be used long term. None of these devices were ever intended for continuous daily use and will most likely fail prematurely and unexpectedly.

For example, the Intermediate School in the Somers School District connected a personal computer playing a PowerPoint presentation to a 42” LCD display in the lobby of their school to create their own digital signage solution. Was this the best solution? No. But it didn’t cost them anything and they achieved their goal of providing information about the school to the students, teachers and parents. In the end they realized this solution had limited functionality and wasn’t easy to manage.

For less than $500, we found a solution that offered greater functionality, was easy to use and had no recurring costs. They were now able to display text, images and video in different areas of the screen, schedule the content so that the right information was being seen at the right time, able to manage the content remotely and allowed them to return the PC back to valuable office use.

As you can see, it doesn’t have to cost a lot of money to add digital signage to your business. There are hundreds of choices currently available. We help small businesses find ways of using digital signage to improve communication with customers and increase sales by offering an affordable digital signage solution. If you have any questions about how you can use digital signage to grow your business, feel free to give me a call.

In Local News….

In Local News….

A couple of weeks ago I was interviewed by Rick Pezzulo of The Daily Somers to cover a story on my business, Signpost Digital and the work I am doing in the area to help local businesses. In 2011, I launched my local advertising network in Somers to provide local businesses with a more effective and more affordable alternative to traditional print advertising. The network consists of large 40″ LCD displays placed in the most popular and busiest businesses in the area that play eighteen second video ads and up-to-date news and weather. For around $4 a day, local businesses now have a way to reach potential customers when and where they shop on a daily basis. Our screens are currently located at Grand Central Market on Route 6 in Baldwin Place and Peppino’s Pizzeria in the Somers Commons Shopping Center. We are actively looking to expand our network to other towns in northern Westchester County.
